BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after she was allegedly found slumped over steering wheel of a car stopped on the shoulder of Route 206 in Byram Township, police said.

On April 9, at 10:44 p.m., an officer observed a Black BMW stopped on the shoulder of Route 206. While checking on the motorist, the officer observed the driver, who was later identified as Jasmine O. Shah, 29, of Sparta Township, slumped forward over the steering wheel of the vehicle, police said.

As the officer approached Shah, she began to wake up. The officer could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and the officer felt she may be intoxicated, police said.

Shah performed several standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was then arrested and transported to the police station where she refused breath tests, police said.

Shah was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath samples, careless driving and reckless driving. She was then released to her attorney pending a court appearance, police said.
