Sherrill names Caldwell and Doucette to lead New Jersey gubernatorial transition team
TRENTON, N.J. — Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill on Friday announced that Lieutenant Governor-elect Dale Caldwell will serve as chair of her gubernatorial transition team, with Kellie Doucette appointed as the team’s executive director. The two will lead efforts to ensure a smooth and effective transition as the incoming administration prepares to take office.
Dr. Caldwell, a longtime advocate for education, business, and community development in New Jersey, most recently served as president of Centenary University. He will oversee the strategic direction of the transition process to ensure the Sherrill-Caldwell administration is “ready for action on day one,” according to the announcement.
Doucette, who has held senior leadership roles in the private sector, government, and nonprofit organizations, will lead daily operations of the transition team, including developing policy and personnel recommendations. She previously served as district director in Governor-elect Sherrill’s congressional office, where she was recognized for her operational expertise and commitment to effective and transparent governance.
“I am thrilled to have Dale and Kellie leading our transition,” Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill said. “Lieutenant Governor-elect Caldwell brings an unmatched combination of vision, experience, and dedication to our team, while Kellie’s leadership and management expertise will ensure we hit the ground running. Together, they embody the values of service, integrity, and innovation that will guide our administration.”
“Governor-elect Sherrill represents a new era of leadership for New Jersey — one rooted in collaboration, effectiveness, and action,” Lieutenant Governor-elect Caldwell said. “I’m honored to help lead this transition and ensure her administration is ready to deliver for the people of our state from day one.”
“This is an exciting moment for New Jersey,” Doucette said. “Under Governor-elect Sherrill’s leadership, we have an opportunity to build a government that works smarter, listens better, and serves every community. I look forward to helping assemble a team that reflects those priorities.”
The Sherrill Transition Team is expected to announce additional members and policy advisory committees in the coming weeks.
