Warren County Prosecutor’s Office to distribute free gun safety kits at bicentennial event
WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — In recognition of Gun Safety and Violence Awareness Month, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office will host its first Gun Lock Distribution Event during the county’s Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, June 28.
The event, part of the county’s 200-year anniversary festivities, will take place during the celebration, where prosecutor’s office staff will distribute 500 free firearm safety kits to local residents. Each kit includes a cable-style gun lock and an informational packet on responsible firearm storage. Kits will be available while supplies last.
The goal of the initiative is to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to firearms, particularly by children. The locks are designed to fit most handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
“Proper firearm storage is the number one way to help prevent firearm accidents, theft, and misuse,” said Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone. “Hosting a gun lock distribution event is our investment in the continued safety of the community — especially the most vulnerable population, our children. With responsible firearm storage, together we are taking proactive steps to prevent tragedy before it can occur.”
Residents are encouraged to stop by the Prosecutor’s Office table during the celebration to pick up a free safety kit and learn more about gun safety practices.
