Woman accused of assaulting child at therapy center in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Sussex County woman is accused of assaulting a child at a therapy center in Mount olive Township.

In August of 2024, a concerned parent responded to the Mount Olive Township Police Department to report an assault against her juvenile daughter while she was attending CareBot Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy center, located at 100 International Drive, in the Budd Lake section of the township.

CareBot ABA provides professional and compassionate therapy services to support children with behavioral and developmental needs, said CareBot ABA CEO Krassy Brown.

“In August, we experienced an isolated incident involving this former employee, who violated our hand-off policy. Upon discovering the misconduct, we took immediate action by terminating the employee and reporting the incident to the authorities. We have fully cooperated with the police department throughout their investigation,” Brown said. “At CareBot ABA, we maintain a strict hands-off policy. No form of physical restriction or holds are ever permitted in our therapy center. We ensure the safety and well-being of our clients through rigorous oversight, including daily monitoring of CCTV cameras in every room throughout our center. Additionally, we provide a parent viewing room that allows parents to observe their children’s therapy sessions in real-time.”

Upon completion of the investigation, Skylar Jean Carroll, 25, of Newton, was arrested and charged with child abuse. She was released pending a court appearance, police said.

“We take any breach of our policies very seriously and are committed to upholding the highest standards of care and accountability,” Brown said.
