
Woman facing drug, child neglect charges after Morris County traffic stop
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman is facing charges including child neglect after a traffic stop in Mount Olive Township, according to police.
On Nov. 10, at around 2:59 p.m., an officer observed a Honda CRV traveling north on Route 206, partially on the shoulder of the roadway. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Dunkin’ Donuts, where he contacted the driver, identified as Michele M. Grohn-Spletter, 59, of Chester, police said.
During the interaction, the officer noted signs of impairment and asked Grohn-Spletter to exit the vehicle for field sobriety testing. Following her inability to pass the tests, she was placed under arrest, police said.
A search incident to the arrest revealed one pill identified as Xanax, one pill identified as Gabapentin, and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, a juvenile male (referred to as JM) was in the vehicle at the time of the stop and was later transported to his residence by patrol, police said.
Grohn-Spletter was charged with possession of CDS Schedule I-IV, possession of a prescription legend drug (4 doses or less), possession of drug paraphernalia, under the influence of CDS, child neglect/abuse, driving while intoxicated (DWI), reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and driving while suspended.
She was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
