Woman sentenced to probation for stealing products from Sussex County ShopRite

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania woman was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to theft, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Crystal L. Candelario, 31, of Scranton was sentenced on July 7 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Virtual Sussex County Courtroom in Newton, Taggart said.

Candelario was sentenced to two years non-custodial probation that will be transferred to Pennsylvania, with 34 days jail time served. In addition to the standard conditions of probation, she must also complete 50 hours of community service, undergo both TASC and Mental Health Evaluations at the discretion of probation and follow all recommendations, submit compliance with Vivitrol program to probation, submit a DNA sample, and pay $135.00 in fines and fees, Taggart said.

Candelario pled guilty on May 19 to third-degree theft, Taggart said.

According to Taggart, Candelario admitted to taking more than $500 but less than $75,000 worth of products from the ShopRite in Montague Township with no intent to pay for them.

Candelario was represented by Matthew Young, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
