Police chase ends in crash on I-80 in Morris County, 3 in custody

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – Three suspects were taken into custody after a police chase that ended in a crash on Interstate 80 early Saturday morning, according to a post on the Mountain Lakes Police Facebook page.

On Feb. 10, at around 3:12 a.m., the Mountain Lakes Police Department was notified that the Boonton Police Department was involved in a motor vehicle pursuit, police said.

After Police terminated the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as an 18-year-old male from Bloomfield, fled the scene following the accident, police said.

Mountain Lakes officers were soon able to locate the driver on Parsippany Boulevard in Parsippany-Troy Hills, where he was taken into custody, police said.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had recently been taken without the owner’s consent and a handgun was found inside, police said.

Three suspects were arrested and transported to the hospital for injuries, police said.
