NYRA Bets launches in New Jersey, expanding online horse racing wagering options
NEW JERSEY — Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and the New Jersey Racing Commission announced Tuesday that NYRA Bets has launched in New Jersey, expanding online pari-mutuel wagering options for horse racing fans.
NYRA Bets is now available to customers statewide and will serve as the exclusive managing vendor of New Jersey’s online and mobile pari-mutuel account wagering system. The company will also be responsible for recruiting additional operators to launch wagering platforms in the state.
“This is a significant and historic expansion of horse racing fans’ options for pari-mutuel wagering in the Garden State,” said Attorney General Davenport. “I’m pleased my office was able to facilitate this important transition to enhance the wagering experience while maintaining the integrity that NJRC is known for.”
“We know that players want more wagering options, and NJRC staff worked diligently to oversee an orderly, trustworthy, and accurate process,” said Sara Ben-David, acting executive director of the New Jersey Racing Commission. “I’m thankful to everyone for their patience as we prepared for this important milestone.”
Since 2005, New Jersey horse racing bettors have had a single online wagering option through the 4NJBets platform, operated by ODS Technologies L.P., doing business as TVG Network, which is owned by FanDuel.
According to the attorney general’s office, the addition of NYRA Bets introduces competition into the state’s online pari-mutuel wagering market.
Wagers placed through NYRA Bets will be processed by United Tote Company, which recently established a hub facility in Cherry Hill and completed testing before the platform’s launch.
Global Tote US LLC will continue processing wagers placed at New Jersey racetracks, off-track wagering facilities, the casino simulcasting facility and through 4NJBets.
Officials reminded residents that help is available for those experiencing gambling problems. Anyone seeking confidential assistance can call or text 1-800-GAMBLER. Information about New Jersey’s self-exclusion program is available through the New Jersey Racing Commission.
