2 injured, 1 flown after Route 22 crash in Hunterdon County

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Two people were injured, including one who was flown to a trauma center, following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Route 22 in Readington Township, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:46 p.m. near the intersection of Route 22 and Oldwick Road, according to police.

Police said the collision involved a 2009 Lexus sedan driven by a 48-year-old Whitehouse Station man and a 2004 Lexus SUV driven by a 78-year-old man from Hillsboro Beach, Florida.

The driver of the sedan became trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by emergency responders before being flown by the New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR medical helicopter to an area trauma center.

The driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by the Readington Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Emergency responders included the Readington Township Police Department, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, Whitehouse Fire Department and Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics.
