Assemblywoman Dunn announces NJDOT timeline for I-80 repairs in Wharton Borough

WHARTON BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) — The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is continuing emergency repairs on Interstate 80 near Exit 34 in Wharton Borough, with crews working around the clock to restore traffic.

The NJDOT has laid out a targeted timeline for the reopening of lanes as part of their ongoing efforts to repair the damaged roadway.

By May 4, two westbound lanes are expected to be reopened, followed by the reopening of two eastbound lanes by May 18. The full restoration of all lanes in both directions is targeted for June 25.

Assemblywoman Aura Dunn has been in regular contact with NJDOT to monitor the progress and ensure the repairs are moving forward efficiently and safely. She expressed her appreciation for the hard work and dedication of NJDOT’s expert teams, emphasizing that these repairs are designed to provide long-term stability and safety for the roadway.

“I know how frustrating this situation has been for residents and commuters, and I want to thank you for your continued patience,” said Assemblywoman Dunn. “I am in regular contact with NJDOT to monitor progress and ensure this critical work moves forward as safely and efficiently as possible.”

Dunn also took the opportunity to thank the dedicated operating engineers, laborers, and law enforcement for their perseverance and hard work in ensuring the repairs are being carried out as quickly as possible.

The NJDOT continues to employ infrastructure-sensitive methods to ensure that repairs not only address the immediate damage but also improve the long-term durability of the roadway.
