Driver dead after striking tree in Morris County crash

UPDATE: Police ID driver killed after striking tree in Morris County

MORRIS PLAINS BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Police are investigating a fatal crash on Littleton Road in Morris Plains Borough Tuesday morning, according to Morris Plains Police Department Chief Michael Koroski.

The crash happened at around 10:00 a.m. on Littleton Road (Route 202) in the area of Totten Way, Koroski said

A vehicle, driven by a male in his 60’s, was traveling south on Littleton Road (Route 202) and struck a tree in the area of Totten Way. No other vehicles were involved, Koroski said.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Koroski said.

The victim’s name was not released until appropriate notification can be made to next of kin, Koroski said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Koroski said.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Morris Plains Fire Department, Morris Plains Department of Public Works and the Morris County Department of Publics Works assisted at the scene.
