Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Parade set for Sunday; road closures, parking restrictions announced
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The Hackettstown Business Improvement District’s 17th annual St. Patrick’s Parade will return to Main Street at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, with Shawn Burke serving as this year’s grand marshal and officials advising residents and visitors to plan ahead for road closures and parking restrictions.
The parade, one of the town’s largest annual events, will feature Irish dance groups and bands, bagpipe and drum units, community organizations, Centenary University and Hackettstown High School teams and clubs, area fire departments and rescue squads, the Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeers, and the Hackettstown Community Band.
The parade route runs along Main Street from Grand Avenue to Warren Street.
Route 46 (Main Street) between Liberty and Warren streets, and Route 517 (High Street) between Main and Franklin streets, will close at approximately 2:30 p.m. for the duration of the parade. Several side streets leading to the route will begin closing around 2 p.m., with police stationed throughout the area to direct traffic.
Parking will be prohibited beginning at noon on Main Street between Grand Avenue and Warren Street; Washington Street between Church and Valentine streets; Franklin Street between Liberty Street and Route 517; Liberty Street between Main and Franklin streets; Valentine Street between Main and Beatty streets; and Washington Street between Center Street and Bells Lane. Vehicles parked in restricted areas will be ticketed and towed.
Municipal parking lots and many side streets will remain available for public parking.
Organizers will also designate a “quiet sensory zone” for those sensitive to noise. The zone, marked by bright lawn signs, will extend from West Plane Street to Center Street. Participants are asked to refrain from sirens, loud music and revving engines while passing through that area.
The parade is pet-friendly and will include an Irish costume contest sponsored by Doggie Styleashes at Czig Meister Brewing, 106 Valentine St., beginning at 3:30 p.m. Pets are invited to walk in the parade after judging.
Officials encouraged attendees to allow extra travel time and follow posted signs and directions from law enforcement to ensure a safe and enjoyable event.
