Hunterdon County Commissioners congratulate Brad Myhre on receiving prestigious Scouting Leadership Award

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) — On May 5, the 2025 Hunterdon Leadership Award Reception honored Brad Myhre, County Administrator of Hunterdon County and Mayor of Frenchtown, for his outstanding contributions to public service and leadership.

The celebratory event, hosted by Scouting America Washington Crossing Council at Lone Eagle Brewing, brought together leaders, public officials, community members, and family to recognize Myhre’s ongoing commitment to Hunterdon County.

Deputy Director Shaun C. Van Doren spoke on behalf of the Commissioner Board and was joined by Commissioners Jeff Kuhl, Zach Rich, and Susan Soloway, as well as former Congressman Leonard Lance, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, County Clerk Mary Melfi, Surrogate Heidi Rohrbach, and Sheriff Fred Brown.

“Brad has extensive experience in county operations and has made a meaningful impact on Hunterdon County,” said Van Doren. “He consistently shows a deep dedication to our community, inspiring others through his leadership. His ability to bring people together around a shared vision for progress makes him highly deserving of this award. We are proud to celebrate him tonight.”

A lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, Myhre holds an undergraduate degree from Lycoming College and graduate degrees in Public Administration from Kutztown University, Business Administration from Shippensburg University, and Professional Studies in Human Resources and Employment Relations from Penn State University.

Appointed County Administrator in July 2022, Myhre previously served as Deputy Administrator, Clerk of the Board of Commissioners, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Human Resources Director. He has served as Mayor of Frenchtown since 2015 without salary and formerly worked on the staff of Congressman Leonard Lance.

In his remarks, Myhre thanked Scouting America, his family, and friends, sharing: “In reflecting upon my time in scouting, one principle that I will always carry with me is this: ‘Leave a place better than you found it.’ It may seem like a simple phrase, but it taught me that leadership starts with responsibility and that small actions, done with intention, can create a lasting impact.”

The reception highlighted the importance of civic leadership and honored those who serve with integrity and dedication. Sponsorship opportunities supported local scouting programs, offering community members and businesses a way to contribute to the celebration of leadership in Hunterdon County.

The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners extends its deepest congratulations to Brad Myhre on receiving the 2025 Hunterdon Leadership Award and looks forward to his continued contributions to the county’s growth and success.
