Hunterdon County Deputy Director Soloway speaks to 5th graders about county government at Round Valley Elementary School

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Deputy Director Susan Soloway recently visited Round Valley Elementary School to share with 5th grade students Hunterdon County’s rich heritage and the importance of civic engagement and community service.

Commissioner Soloway expressed her admiration to the students’ for their interest in county government, noting the significance of educational initiatives in fostering a sense of community and responsibility among young citizens, “I am truly impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm of these young students. It is inspiring to see our future leaders so engaged and committed to making a positive impact.”

During her visit, Soloway interacted with the students, answering their questions and sharing insights into her role as a County Commissioner, and spoke about topics such as voting, the work of county government, and local tourism initiatives. The presentation was aimed at providing students with an opportunity to learn about local history, understand the workings of government, and develop a strong sense of civic duty.

Commissioner Soloway encouraged the students to continue their efforts in learning about different ways to contribute to the well-being of the community and shared about the upcoming launch of the Parks and Recreation HOPE 2 program and stated, “Hunterdon County remains committed to supporting educational initiatives that promote civic engagement and community awareness among its youth. Programs like HOPE 2 are FREE and open to people of all ages – it is a great way to explore all 14 of the County’s parks and enjoy the natural surroundings of our Open Space.”

“I want to remind each of you that you are never too young to have a voice in local government. Get involved in programs in your community and keep learning so you can be the eyes and ears of the county,” Soloway said.
