Hunterdon County to host “Mr. Fix-It” appliance repair day for seniors

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County officials are promoting an upcoming event aimed at helping seniors with small household repairs, with the return of the “Mr. Fix-It” Spring Appliance Day.

The event, highlighted at the April 21 meeting of the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners, will take place April 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hunterdon County Senior Center.

County residents age 60 and older are invited to bring small household appliances in need of repair. Volunteer technicians will be on site to fix items while participants wait. Labor is free, though a small fee may apply for any required parts. Light refreshments will also be available.

“As liaison to the Department of Human Services, I’m proud to highlight programs like Mr. Fix-It that provide practical support to our senior residents,” said Commissioner Van Doren. “This event is about more than fixing appliances. It helps residents maintain their independence and offers an opportunity to connect with others in the community.”

Officials said the Mr. Fix-It Program is a volunteer-driven initiative designed to help seniors remain safely in their homes by addressing minor maintenance and repair needs that could otherwise affect their safety or quality of life.

Spring Appliance Day is one of several events held throughout the year to provide seniors with access to these services in a community setting.

Residents interested in participating or volunteering can find more information on the county’s Mr. Fix-It Program webpage.
