LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A kitchen fire caused damage to an apartment Friday night in Lopatcong Township, authorities said.
Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 9 p.m. April 10 to the Brakeley Garden Apartments on Red School Lane for a report of a pot of oil on fire in a kitchen.
Upon arrival, officers encountered heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the kitchen area of the apartment and used portable fire extinguishers to contain the blaze while evacuating nearby units as a precaution, officials said.
The Lopatcong Fire Department arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire with assistance from mutual aid agencies, including the Phillipsburg Fire Department, Alpha Fire Company, Harmony Township Fire Department and Stewartsville Fire Company.
Occupants of the apartment were evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel but declined further treatment. No other injuries were reported.
