Owner of Morris County clothing store accused of recording employees using bathroom facing new charges

ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) –  The owner of a Roxbury Township clothing store that was charged charged in December 2023 for allegedly recording employees using the bathroom is facing new charges, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Nicholas Zirpoli, 35, of Lincoln Park Borough, owner and operator of Plato’s Closet on Route 46, has been additionally charged with first-degree manufacturing child pornography, second-degree filming a child in a prohibited sexual act, third-degree possession of child pornography, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, ten counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, and fourth-degree tampering with evidence.

Zirpoli was previously charged in December 2023 with nine counts of invasion of privacy and tampering with evidence, Carroll said.

On or about Feb, 26, 2023, Zirpoli is alleged to have used a device to video record several male and female employees utilizing the restroom at Plato’s Closet and then destroying evidence related to these acts, Carroll said.

During the period of late 2022 to the beginning of 2023, Zirpoli is alleged to have used a device to video record a juvenile female employee and an adult male employee utilizing the restroom at Plato’s Closet at separate times, Carroll said.

Zirpoli was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility upon his arrest and was released on pre-trial monitoring conditions on Feb. 8 in accordance with the Criminal Justice Reform Act, Carroll said.
