Woman pleads guilty in fatal stabbing in Hunterdon County
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Raritan Township woman pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in her home earlier this year, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced.
Domonique Preston, 45, entered the plea before Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger in Hunterdon County.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a 23-year state prison sentence. Preston will be required to serve 85 percent of the term before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act. She will also be supervised on parole for five years following her release.
The plea stems from a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Raritan Township Police Department. Officers responded to a 911 call about a stabbing at a home on the 100 block of Manchester Road around 1:40 a.m. Feb. 21.
When they arrived, officers found 66-year-old Steven Spivey dead from a stab wound to the left shoulder. Preston, who lived at the residence, admitted to the stabbing and was arrested at the scene, officials said.
Preston is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 15.
