2.2 magnitude earthquake hits Hunterdon County

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – A 2.2 magnitude earthquake rattled Hunterdon County early Wednesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The 2.2 magnitude quake, which occurred about 1:44 a.m., was centered about 3 miles East of Califon Borough in Hunterdon County and had a depth of 4.7 kilometers.

There were no initial reports of injuries or damages to structures in the area.

A 4.8 magnitude quake occurred on April 5 at around 10:23 a.m., and was centered in Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County and had a depth of 4.7 kilometers.

Several aftershocks were felt after the April earthquake.
