Route 94 southbound north of I-80 to close and be detoured for 5 days starting Monday night in Warren County

Road will be closed for five days for pavement and drainage work

KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Route 94 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured just north of I-80 for five days starting on Monday night in Knowlton Township.

Beginning at 10:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, until 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, Route 94 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured just north of I-80 for pavement and drainage work on Route 46 eastbound where it meets Route 94 southbound. If work is completed earlier, Route 94 will reopen sooner.

Route 94 Southbound Detour:

  • Motorists on Route 94 southbound wishing to continue to Route 46 Eastbound or to PA 611 southbound will be directed to take the ramp to I-80 westbound
  • Continue on Simpson Road until it merges left onto I-80 westbound
  • Continue on I-80 westbound and take the U-turn on the right
  • Go under I-80 and stay to the left to merge onto I-80 eastbound
  • Take Exit 4B/Route 46 eastbound (the exit ramp merges with Route 94 southbound)
  • Stay left to continue onto Route 46 eastbound or stay right for PA 611

The work is part of the $14.5 million federally funded pavement preservation project that will reconstruct approximately one and a half miles of Route 46 between I-80 and Walnut Road in Knowlton Township.

In addition, the project will upgrade drainage and guiderail throughout the project limits, as well as install Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) at the Route 46/Route 94 and I-80 interchanges. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2025.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
