
Two Pa. juveniles charged after shots fired in Greenwich Township; assault rifle recovered
GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) – Two juveniles from Northampton County, Pennsylvania, are facing multiple charges after shots were fired in Greenwich Township Saturday night, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
At around 10:45 p.m. on June 7, officers responded to Dumont Road and Hamilton Road after a 911 caller reported hearing gunfire. When officers arrived, no injuries or property damage were found.
During the investigation, officers recovered an assault rifle, armor-piercing ammunition, and a large-capacity magazine. While one individual fled the area, two juveniles were charged in connection with the incident.
A 14-year-old juvenile was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, specifically an assault rifle; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, for allegedly discharging the assault rifle in a residential area; fourth-degree possession of prohibited devices, specifically armor-piercing ammunition; and fourth-degree possession of a large-capacity magazine.
A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon; second-degree conspiracy to commit possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; fourth-degree conspiracy to commit possession of prohibited devices, specifically armor-piercing ammunition; and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit possession of a large-capacity magazine.
Each complaint was approved on a warrant, and both juveniles were detained pending a preliminary hearing before a Family Court judge.
The investigation was assisted by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the Phillipsburg Police Department K-9 Unit.
